We are a luxurious life style choice venue, a private members club open to everyone that likes to enjoy what may considered an alternative way of life.
You’ll find a warm inviting atmosphere with friendly staff on hand to make sure you have a wonderful time.
While things are slightly different at the moment due to Covid-19, we still offer you a safe fun environment to come and be yourself.

Dress Code:
Dress code at the VA is very important. All guests are expected to dress smartly and appropriately. Trainers, ripped jeans and the like are not acceptable. We expect members to dress down into lingerie, towels or naked within the play areas and hot tub.
Play Room Etiquette
We ask that glass isn’t taken into any of the play areas for everyone’s safety. Plastic glasses are provided in order for you to take drinks into the play areas. There is never any expectations or any pressure to involve other people in your play. We ask all members to respect other members privacy and do not be offended if others want to remain alone. We politely ask that all guests remember that no means no and a polite no, never offends.
Hotel &Club Etiquette
You’re welcome to run bar tabs, please remember to pay your tab before leaving the club or retiring to the hotel. If you do retire without paying your bar tab, we will deduct it from the card registered for the room.
There is a smoking area provided, smoking within the club and hotel is strictly prohibited.
Damages to the hotel rooms will be charged as displayed on the notices within the rooms. Guests hotel rooms are strictly private and we ask you do not approach other guests at their rooms, unless invited.
For Your Safety
- The Vanilla Alternative operates a strict no drugs policy. Anyone caught with any substance will be immediately removed from the club and will not be welcomed back.
- Alcohol. You are not permitted to bring your own alcohol into a licensed venue by law. This applies to the club also.
- Digital devices & photography. Mobile phones and any form of recording device is strictly prohibited. We will confiscate any device. This is to protect everyone’s privacy.
- The VA is fully complaint with The Data Protection Act and we respect our members privacy.
LUX LOUNGE

Set in 8 acres of beautiful surroundings along the banks of the River Ouse we have created an Ibiza style lounge and clothing optional retreat.
Open for Day sessions Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12am until 8.30pm
last entry 5pm
With full facilities to include a heated Spa Pool, Ibiza style bed loungers surrounding the fully decked pool area.
A fully licensed external bar and club house with decking area and seating
Toilets and shower blocks and 2 further external showers
Food can be ordered for table side service, just let us know what you want and we’ll get it for you.

Please be aware that this is a clothing optional naturist retreat and we would ask all members to respect that this is not the same as swinging and sexual activity is not condoned.
We will be offering camping pitches next year
OUR HOTEL & ROOMS
As you will see when you come to visit, the premises is a 16th Century building and as such has a charm and character all of its own, with some very personal quirks and oddities.
We have 12 hotel rooms all totally different in character and size to each other, but all clean and comfy and just a wander up the stairs at the end of the night. We have recently renovated some of our larger rooms to superior Super King size. There are 10 en-suite rooms and two smaller doubles, that have an adjoining bathroom.
From Easter until late September camping is available in the extensive river fronted LUX Lounge, there are shower and toilet facilities available for campers and LUX members.
To book rooms or camping, please contact the office between 11 am and 6.30pm, closed Mondays and Tuesdays. Room bookings are payable at the time of booking and are non-refundable and non-transferable.

- £85 per night for Superior Superking En-suite
- £75 per night for Kingsize En-Suite
- £65 per night for Double En-suite
- £45 per night for basic doubles (both share one bathroom down the corridor) Currently unavailable due to covid safety restrictions
Please note: Keys are available for rooms after 5pm, keys must be returned by 11am on the date of departure. Rooms will be held until 10pm unless otherwise arranged. Hotel prices do not include club entry. Damages will be charged for.
